Leadership Development

Leadership Development engagements help leaders at all levels of the organization to:

  1. Be more effective in their current role

  2. Advance faster

  3. Go further in their career

  4. Change unwanted or ineffective behaviors

Mario’s Leadership Development Process is described through the following five phases:

  1. Defining the alliance - The coach and the leader being coached get specific on the goals of coaching, the methodology and the coaching process.

  1. Assessing leader’s strengths and weaknesses - The coach uses a variety of tools based on the leader’s goals and previous assessments.  An example of some assessment tools includes: 360 degree feedback  (interview and automated), MBTI, TKI, LIFO, and others.  All assessment results are discussed directly with the leader and “mined” for deeper understanding of the leader’s preferences, goals and perception by others.

  1. Development planning - The coach and leader prioritize behaviors to work on, set goals and develop a plan that moves the leader forward.

  1. Coaching to the Plan - The coach and leader meet regularly to monitor progress, celebrate successes, identify and overcome unexpected obstacles and deepen the learning from actions taken by the leader in- between coaching sessions.

  1. Feedback and Finish

  2. -Coach feedback to the leader happens throughout the process.

  3. -Discussions between the leader and his/her manager are strongly encouraged by the coach and supported by 3-way meetings between the coach, the leader and the leader’s manager throughout the process.

  4. -Coach process updates to the leader’s manager and human resources happen throughout the process and are conducted WITHOUT discussing the content of coaching sessions.

Typically, leadership development is structured through individual meetings between the coach and the coaching client.  However,  clients also retain the choice of joining a leadership development group if they are interested in expanding their professional network or having a peer support group.
